Dear Stegner Family, After meeting Sean this summer, we would hang out at the pool everyday. I remember we would play marco polo, and he would always try to catch me. I would go into the deep end, and he would get all mad because he was too short to go there. Then we would always go to Maraika's house after. One day, Maraika had just bought a new bathing suit and it came on a plastic mannequin torso. We ducktaped it to Sean's body and he put on Maraika's bathing suit tops, and make us all laugh. And out of the many memories I have with him, that is one of my favorites. So many are mourning his loss, because he truly was a great friend. He had a great sense of humor, and I love the picture of him where he has his head thrown back laughing holding the lepoard-print underwear he got for Christmas. That is exactly the way that I remember him. And even though we are all missing them now, once we make it to heaven, we will be with them once more. With no pain, just peace and happiness. We will never have to be afraid of losing them again. We will stay with them forever, and forever is an unimaginably long time. Once more, Love, Heather Vass

FOREVER HERE A ribbon of moonlight in the sky The call of a nightingale The night is serene and peaceful, And yet I feel no joy Pain and sorrow deep within How can I express this grief? Joy has fled the lifeless face Of an earth that cries alone The night it holds my secrets The dark it captures my pain I lie alone in wait For the light of a brighter day I think, "I have nothing to give." I think, "I wish you were here." But most of all I think for you, I think, "Why you and not me?" But there is one thing I can do This one thing; all I can give This one thing I do in defiance Of all that has come to be So for you, I write my emotions I write of the times we shared I write of the times long lost And I write; write a letter to you. I pour out my soul on the paper In hope that in heaven you read You'll see that we loved you more than is said And your memory lives FOREVER. I seal the letter with wax I throw it out the window And it floats away on a wintry breeze Never to be seen again But I feel better for it Simply because of the hope The hope it inspires within my soul That says I am not alone. For I know you are watching Reading and smiling for those who love you so And I know that you're here In memory and love FOREVER. Dear Stegner family: Just a little poem for you I wrote. I want you to know that I am so sorry for all that happened. Just remember, he is forever here. We're all there for you, too! May you find peace and joy in this time of pain.

The Stegner Family, My sincerest sympathy to you all as you endure this terrible tragedy. I had a business relationship with Scott and was always impressed by his honesty and integrity. But most of all I remember the small talk before meetings or conference calls when he would speak about all of you. He would tell me about recent or planned vacations. He would talk about Sean’s soccer matches. He shared a piece of his family life with those of us who knew and respected his technical and business skills. Scott was an everyday hero for those of us who work to do the right thing, have loving marriages and raise the families that we treasure. None of the many pressures of the IT business and corporate life ever diminished what was truly important to him. I know that I will miss those interactions with him. I attended the funeral service yesterday and was taken with the reach of Scott and Sean’s influence upon all of us. I drew renewed personnel strength and courage as your family participated in the service. I have placed one of the memorial cards among the many pictures of my family in the office to constantly remind me, not only, how precious life is but also to draw strength from Scott’s example of the best that we can be. Sincerely Bob McCarthy EMC Corporation
